Don't give me that look!

Growing up, my mom said probably a million times "Don't give me that look!" In a house with 2 girls, 2 years apart, there was a lot of emotions, a lot of estrogen, and a lot of "looks" that came with lovely attitudes but we all survived! Now with 2 girls of my own, 2 years apart, I am very aware of what is to come but I hope we are spared for a couple more years, at least :) Miss dramatic has been coming up with a few "looks" of her own these days that serve as a reminder that they will not be babies forever :(

This one says "No, I will not smile for the camera, would you PLEASE get me down."

This one says "Awww man, are you really going to put that barrette in my hair again?!?!"

When she smiles, it's the biggest smile but when she cries, she opens her mouth so loud and is silent for about 5 seconds before the wailing begins. One thing that I am thankful for is that the sad and "devestating" moments are very short lived. You might think that the world has ended but 10 seconds later, tears are dry and we are moving on.

Betsy Grace is a major drama queen, full of personality and even though it sometimes make the day a little harder, I love that she has come into her own and is self assured. God gave her an abundance of confidence, which makes her very resilient and it has been a blessing to watch her soar. Here's to many years of a million "looks" :)

Think these 2 look alike?

Betsy Grace at 3 months

Sutton at 3 months

...yep, they're sisters!

Pajama Time!

There is nothing sweeter than a baby after their bath! They smell so sweet, the stickiness is washed away and their disposition is a little calmer. With 2 to bathe, bath time now takes mommy and daddy , 4 hands are a necessity but luckily both girls LOVE the bath, so this chore is a breeze!

Brushing her teeth with wild hair...mommy was a few steps behind with the brush :)

"Don't you even think about putting me to bed, I am WIDE awake."

Snuggle time with daddy!

Sutton Bear

I just realized that I didn't put any pics of our sweet Sutton Bear in my last post, so this is completely all about her! I always wondered how I could love another child as much as I love Betsy Grace and all of my friends with 2 or more told me that God would open my heart and I just would. I had my doubts but boy, it's so true! This little girl overwhelms me with so much love, just like her sister and even though it's only been 3 months, it's hard to remember what life was like without her. And just when I think my heart couldn't swell any bigger, Betsy Grace reaches for Sutton's hand and gives her the most gentle kiss...L.O.V.E.
Sutton, you are our precious gift from God and we love you more than words can say. You are growing before our eyes and life is so busy, I am fearful that I am going to miss something. You are so content, where ever we go...I am a lucky mama to have had 2 chill, laid back babies!!! You are doing so well sleeping at night (9-7 isn't bad at 12 weeks) and at the moment, I am enjoying our lack of schedule :) I love that we can have our snuggle time when big sis sleeps in the afternoon. Beautiful from the inside out, I am so proud to be your mama!

Vacation=Flop....Staycation=Bliss

So 2 Wednesdays ago, we packed up the car and headed to the beach for our week vacation. We were so excited to get out of town and had high hopes of a nice, relaxing retreat away. Sutton is such a good baby and even though BG is busy as a tornado, we thought that she could run all day long on the beach and crash at night. Well, that was what we hoped but not what became reality. Turns out, one of BG's 2 year molars was coming in and it rocked her world. She not only skipped her naps but she was a terror to put down, got up and down throughout the night and we all ended up playing musical beds in attempt to calm her and not disturb Sutton. Not to mention the yucky weather, rainy and cold don't go over so well at the beach :) So, long story short, we were all EXHAUSTED and ended up coming home on Sunday and spent the rest of our vacation at home, "Staycation" and it was awesome! Mac had taken off work through Wednesday, so we had 3 glorious days of family workouts at the Y, lunch outings, a couple trips to TCBY and a much needed date night. I hated to leave the beach (I actually cried as we pulled out of the driveway) but it just wasn't our year for a great vacation....next year will be MUCH better, it couldn't get any worse :)

You feel so terrible when you know that your child is not feeling good...this expression says it all. Bathing suit on, ready for the beach but just not her spunky little self :(

We did get out one afternoon but as you can tell from the sweater, it was chilly and she didn't understand why we couldn't get in the water. "Because it's cold" did not seem to satisfy her desire and of course a meltdown was to follow.

This little homebody told us about every hour that she wanted to go home while we were at the beach, we finally took the hint and loaded up the car. Her little smirk in this pic says that she is a happy girl to finally be headed that way!

Oh well, we tried and we will try again next year. As Mac said, we probably have a lifetime of vacations and experiences that don't turn out the way we plan. I have to look at the bright side and laugh, knowing that it's trips like these that add color to our life. No matter how bad the ride, I have an amazing husband and 2 of the cutest little girls in the world....I can't complain :)

Saturday morning BISCUITS!

Daddy and Betsy Grace had a special date this morning to none other than our family fave Flying Biscuit and they both were so excited! Normally getting dressed in the morning is such a chore, BG is a pajama girl and really fights putting on clothes but not this morning. Once daddy announced that they were going to get biscuits, miss thing ran so fast to her room to grab an outfit and shoes and then of course, the purse :) I had to take a pic to capture the excitement...
Big hug for daddy...now come on, let's go!
Sutton and I stayed behind so that I could catch up on things around the house and she could catch up on some sleep. Waking up at 5 am. is pretty tough on such a little girl :)

Back to School and a Checkup for the growing girl!

WooHoo! School is back in session and we are super excited around here! Betsy Grace started on Tuesday and loved every minute. She told me over and over that her favorite part was the "paint"...not something we get into very often at home :) We love her teacher, Ms. Terry, and know that it is going to be a fabulous year! Every afternoon we go up the street to wait for the big kids to come home on the school bus...I think little miss was thinking that she would catch a ride too..."Bye Mom, heading up the street!"
Please notice that the purse is once again on her arm, she is lost without it and even though it does not go into school, you better believe we are clutching it on the ride to and fro.

And look who will be 10 weeks old tomorrow!!!! We took her for her 2 month checkup earlier this week and our little NICU baby now weighs 10 lbs, 11 oz. Almost double her birthweight!
She is measuring 21.5 inches long (grown 2 inches in the past month) and pretty much falls in the 20th% across the board. She was so good for the doc, except for the end when it was shot time. Lordy, I forgot about newborn shots and they load them up at 2 months! And then she tells me that they discourage the use of Tylenol because it might lessen the effectiveness of the vaccines...what?!?! I was so tempted because that afternoon was not pretty but I held strong and we got through it and that night she slept from 9-4:30....longest stretch ever! Guess all of the crying wore her out.
She remains to be such a good baby! She has started to focus and follow you through the room, she has discovered her hands and we are delighted by her sweet smiles! And the best part is that BG is more in love with her than ever! I can't believe that this time next year I will be sending 2 to school!

Fall 2011 Makeup Trend...

is apparently mascara all over your face. Yes, that's right, we are setting the trends over here!

This is what happened in the 40 seconds that I took to change Sutton's diaper! These two little best friends, peas in a pod, partners in crime got into my "waterproof" mascara the other morning and painted their faces, their hands and even put the wand in their mouths to color their teeth! Thankfully, I caught them before any damage was done to my room (cream rug, white bedspread and linen headboard...nightmare and freakout overted). All I knew to do was douse them in Vaseline, which made them incredibly greasy and then give them a bath. T-R-O-U-B-L-E!!!! I did find a little humor in it though and I am glad because I know I am set for many years of this kind of mischief with 2 girls :) Later in the day, as I was putting on makeup, I asked BG if she liked makeup and she smiled with the biggest grin and said "YES!"...not so sure she learned her lesson.
